Richard has been appointed as Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer of Syndicate 1918 and brings over 25 years of London Market experience. Prior to joining Santam, he spent nearly 20 years at Brit Insurance, holding senior roles, including Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, Underwriting Performance Manager, Deputy Chief Actuary, and most recently Chief Actuary of Brit Syndicates. In this role, he was the SMF20 role holder and Signing Actuary for Syndicates 2987, 2988, and 1618. Earlier in his career, Richard worked for EMB, the actuarial consultancy, and began his career in reinsurance broking with Benfield Greig. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2003.
